Invisalign Teen

When you're a teenager, appearance is crucial. This is why many young people dread having metal braces fitted but now this old-fashioned treatment is no longer necessary on the road to straight teeth. With Invisalign, you can obtain straight teeth using an aligner that is so inconspicuous that unless people knew you were having treatment chances are they wouldn't even notice you were wearing anything. The Invisalign Teen system takes it one step further, allowing treatment to begin even before a teenager has all of their adult teeth.

Whereas traditional orthodontic treatment can taken anything up to three years to complete, Invisalign Teen takes on average just one year to give you beautifully straight teeth. This treatment does not use any metal brackets, wires or bands so the dietary restrictions placed on traditional treatments simply don't exist if you opt for Invisalign Teen. When you are eating or drinking, the clear aligner can be removed whilst you enjoy your favourite treats. Then you simply pop the aligner back in and continue with your day.

Many people are put off having braces fitted due to the pain experienced when they are 'tightened'. With Invisalign, this is no longer an issue. The aligner is made of a soft plastic material that does not rub against your gums unlike old fashioned braces where sores were a common feature. Also, the teeth themselves are moved in a gradual fashion, limiting the pain experienced.

Best of all, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. This means you can continue partying and socialising without anyone knowing you are undergoing orthodontist treatment unless you tell them that you are. Be prepared to enjoy your new found confidence, even before the treatment is complete as Invisalign is so effective that you will notice a difference in just a matter of months.

Stages of Invisalign Teen treatment

Initially, you will meet with a dentist who will ask a few questions to determine if this is the right treatment for you. Then the dentist will take picture of your teeth as well as creating a 3D mould of your teeth. This is used to plan your tooth movements throughout your treatment to enable the orthodontists to fix any issues you may have. Once this has been completed, the mould is then used to create a custom aligner that will fit your teeth. You will require multiple aligners throughout your treatment, but the exact number differs for everyone and you will be advised on your specific case throughout the treatment.

The custom aligner must be worn for a total of 22 hours throughout the day, but can be removed to eat or drink as well as during cleaning of your teeth. Every couple of weeks, you will return to the orthodontic practice to have your aligners swapped for new ones. Your teeth will gently move until you and the orthodontist are happy with the final position. This treatment is both simple and without the hassle normally associated with braces.
